First, confirm your PMMA sheet specifications
This is your starting point before checking equipment.
- Sheet thickness: thin acrylic sheet (0.8–3 mm), medium sheet (3–10 mm), thick sheet (10 mm+)
- Sheet width: common 1220mm, 1560mm, 2050mm or customized width
- Material type: virgin PMMA pellets, recycled PMMA regrind, or PMMA blend
- End use: transparent optical grade, general signage, anti-UV outdoor sheet
Core components you must focus on
✅ Extruder & screw design
PMMA is easy to degrade under high shear and high temperature. The screw for PMMA is specially designed with low shear structure. Standard PP/PE screw cannot produce high-quality acrylic sheet.
✅ Melt pump & screen changer
A melt pump is highly recommended. It stabilizes melt pressure, keeps consistent sheet thickness and reduces surface stripes. Continuous screen changer helps avoid frequent stops for impurity filtration.
✅ T-die (coat-hanger die)
High precision coat-hanger die is critical for PMMA. Even melt distribution ensures uniform sheet thickness and no flow marks on the surface. Polished die lips directly affect sheet gloss.
✅ Chill roll / calendering system
Three-roll calender is standard for PMMA sheet. Roll surface finish, temperature control and parallelism determine transparency and surface quality. Mirror rolls are required for high-gloss acrylic sheet.
✅ Temperature control system
PMMA has a narrow processing range. Stable, accurate temperature control prevents yellowing, bubbles and material decomposition.
Match capacity to your production plan
Do not overbuy capacity which wastes investment.
- Small line: 100–250 kg/h, for narrow or thin PMMA sheets
- Medium line: 300–600 kg/h, most popular for signage and decoration sheet
- Large line: 600 kg/h+, for wide, thick sheet and mass production
