List of Raw Materials Required for PVC Pipe Production

Raw Material Category Common Types/Examples Main function
Main Materials PVC resin (such as SG-5) The primary base material that forms the main body of the pipe
stabilizer Heat stabilizers (metal soaps/organic tin compounds), light stabilizers, antioxidants Prevents PVC from decomposing during high-temperature processing, improves weather resistance, and extends service life
lubricant External lubricants (e.g., paraffin wax/PE wax), internal lubricants (e.g., stearic acid/monoglycerides) Reduce friction between the material and the equipment, improve material flow, and produce a bright surface on the pipe
Filler calcium carbonate, talc, etc. Reduce costs and improve certain physical properties
Modifier Impact modifiers (e.g., CPE/MBS), processing aids (e.g., ACR) Improve the impact resistance of the pipe material, enhance its processability, and prevent melt fracture.
Colorant Pigments, color masterbatches These pigments not only impart a specific color to the pipe material but also provide weather resistance and anti-aging properties (e.g., titanium dioxide, carbon black).
Other additives Plasticizers, flame retardants, foaming agents, antistatic agents, etc. To meet specific performance requirements, such as the need for plasticizers in flexible tubing

Special Note: Rigid Tubing vs. Flexible Tubing

Rigid PVC pipes (such as drainage and water supply pipes): Typically, no plasticizers are added. If plasticizers are added, they reduce the pipe's rigidity.

Flexible PVC pipes: A large amount of plasticizers (such as DOP) must be added to make the product flexible.
